In Health and Physical Education, students learn to enhance their own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing and physical activity participation in varied and changing contexts.
The Health and Physical Education curriculum offers students an experiential curriculum that is contemporary, relevant, challenging, enjoyable and physically active.
As part of the Physical Education program at Eastern Hills SHS students will engage in a variety of sporting activities. The focus of the Physical Education program is on skill development and applying these skills in game situations.
Students skills are developed using static and dynamic drills, game sense activities, modified games and structured game play.
At all times student safety is considered and staff inform students of the rules of the game and modify rules where appropriate to create a safe learning environment. Some of the sporting activities that students engage in require a higher level of safety consideration and as such parents/ caregivers might consider purchasing mouth guards or other sport specific protective equipment for their child.
Specialist courses in Netball, Basketball, Football and Outdoor Education are offered to students as well as providing the opportunity for students to engage with the specialist Football (AFL) Program. Students in Year 11 and 12 have the opportunity to select ATAR Physical Education and ATAR Health Education as well as a range of general level courses and VET Certificates.
Our Specialist Football Course is an endorsed program by the WA Football Commission. Further details about this can be found on the WAFC website: Specialist School Programs | WA Football (wafc.com.au)
